I live in Big Six Towers in Woodside. We have a wonderful regular carrier named Sarah, but when she goes on vacation, whoever substitutes for her is awful. They scatter our mail everywhere in our mailroom, even sensitive material, and don't even bother to put mail that includes our apartment number on it that's not too big to fit inside the box and leave it outside for anyone to take if there was a check in it. They also crush the mail that they do put into the boxes into the top of the box without bothering to wrap them within each other like Sarah always does so that they fit and don't get crushed. A few weeks ago, they left a stack of 30 or more AARP newspapers on the shelf for residents to sort through to find their own labeled copy out themselves, although these newsletters do fit inside our boxes. Sarah always finds a way to put them and magazines inside the mailboxes. These substitutes are either lazy or maybe just overstressed, but they need better training in how to do this work. Furthermore, when I try to contact the Woodside 61 Street post office to let them know about this bad delivery service, no one answers the phone, although the automatic voice tells you to wait for an operator, but after patiently waiting, no one answers the phone and you hear first a busy signal and then someone clicks it off. I know the post office is in crisis and also has a hard time finding competent deliverers, but this is ridiculously bad service and getting worse. Also, some days we get no mail or only 1 or 2 pieces and the next day, our mailbox is overstuffed, so there's also apparently a problem with daily mail sorting as well. I hope someone who can do something about this at the post office reads this and other people write their experiences here, too. Next time I go in person to the PO, will try to find a supervisor, but they may not be willing to talk to me either or they know about this and can't or won't do anything about it.
