I put in a mail hold for 6/29 to 7/25 via the online system and received a confirmation (you can only do mail holds for 30 days max). On 7/3 or so, my maintenance person said they were still delivering mail. Called the post office and they said they didn't need the confirmation number, would pick up the mail in the box and deliver everything on 7/25. This mail was not delivered on 7/25 per someone who went to pick it up on 7/26. Put in a new online mail hold request on 7/26 for 7/27 to 8/24 (the system would not take it until after the first one expired but a confirmation was received). Called the post office on 7/27. They will deliver the mail tomorrow that was supposed to be delivered on 7/25 and honor the new mail hold request though they said you are supposed to wait at least a week before you can input a another hold request (though the system accepts one). Bottom line, the mail hold system is messed up and I will lay blame there vs. picking on the staff at the post office. Perhaps I will try forwarding the mail in the future.

Hi, the last 4 months or so, if I get a package that does not fit in my mailbox, it is set down on the street for anybody to steal. The last ten years that I lived here, they always put larger packages on my porch which offers a degree of protection. I asked about this and the counter staff said the policy has not changed and packages are supposed to be delivered to the porch. This would mean the postal delivery person would have to take about ten steps out of the truck from the end of my driveway to the porch. So my delivery man is that rushed? Sounds like just lazy and sloppy work to me.
