The mail truck driver hit my mailbox and knocked it off the steel post on the afternoon of 6 September 2022. The impact ripped 4 threaded steel machine bolts from the steel post. My next door neighbor witnessed him pick the box up from the side of the truck / road and place it in the flower bed at the base of the post. He placed the mail in the box and left the box laying on the ground with the mail inside. The Stafford County Sheriffs office responded and logged the incident and took photos. No criminal charges were filed since Federal Postal law applies and it was a postal vehicle that hit the box. I also filed an incident report at the Postal Inspection Service web site. My address is 6 Wedman Way and my neighbor who observed what happened is at 8 Wedman Way. The steel box and heavy gauge steel post are extra heavy duty and the cost of the set was over $500 not including installation. Now my mailbox is laying on the ground and who knows when my mail will now be delivered or the box and post repaired.
