Att: Post Master General On 08/24/2023 at approximately 1135 hours, I observed a USPS vehicle complete a mail delivery at our location, then proceed to speed through the commercial parking lot to what appeared to be the next delivery location, at the other end of the small business park. Prior to approaching the next delivery location the (male driver) approached a mini intersection (two commercial buildings with an alley way in between used for pedestrian and vehicle traffic to enter the main roadway, Robert J. Mathews Parkway) with no regard for their safety or the safety of persons who work at this location. The driver made no attempt to slow down or apply the brakes (no brake lights observed) while approaching then traveling through this mini intersection (the USPS vehicle is traveling from one building to another while still in the parking lot). This type of unsafe driving behavior has been observed on several occasions over the past few weeks. I submitted a formal complaint on 08/24/2023 via the USPS website but I don’t believe it was received by an actual person at your location, as the acknowledgment appeared to be automated. I understand the need for efficiency when making daily deliveries to multiple locations. This task can be completed while practicing good judgement and safe driving skills when traveling through parking lots and areas with limited or no visibility to oncoming traffic or pedestrians. In an effort to ensure the safety of staff on our campus a safety email has been distributed to our employees to be aware and ever vigilant when entering and exiting our parking area. I ask that you and or a member of your management staff conduct a documented vehicle safety training session with any assigned mail carriers working this route. Delivery area: 5118 to 5160 Robert J. Mathews Parkway El Dorado Hills 95762 Thank you
C. Beyer Aug. 25,2023
